Regarding to the safety and security of Indonesia’s maritime economy, Indonesia has a vital national interest in maintaining its maritime security. Indonesia has several of ports, large or small, scattered in various regions in Indonesia. The port is one of the facilities to support maritime development. Ports are also vulnerable to becoming targets of crime and acts of terrorism. Therefore, the government tries its best to improve security facilities at ports in Indonesia.
This book explores Indonesia’s maritime policies both domestic and maritime policies related to foreign cooperation. Various have been done by the Indonesian government to support the maritime progress of the Indonesian state. These actions are done by the government because the government realizes that the progress and success of the country is one of which is supported by aritime and naval forces. These two forces are also vital aspects because they can improve the country’s economy. Therefore, the policies that have been implemented by the government aim to maintain security at the borders of Indonesian territory so that they can be avoided or can minimize international crimes that may occur at sea or on the Indonesian border.
This book describes Indonesia’s involvement in China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) program. Indonesia is involved in BRI to support the vision of the World Maritime Axis program. President Joko Widodo launched seven pillars of
maritime affairs to apply the vision of the world’s maritime axis. This book explains more about the concept of an archipelago so that people can understand the history and provide a clear definition related to maritime affairs. The public also needs to know about Indonesia’s maritime wealth and how the government has developed a maritime defense system to protect Indonesia’s marine areas from the threat of terrorism, piracy, or drug trafficking.
